En lien avec leur programme d’histoire, les cinq classes de 3e sont allées au cinéma du centre ville pour voir un film sur la première guerre mondiale, intitulé They shall not grow (Ils ne vieilliront pas).

Grâce à des témoignages et des images d’archives, le film retrace le parcours des soldats britanniques à cette période ; leur entraînement de soldats en Angleterre, le quotidien et l’horreur de la guerre par la suite, et enfin leur retour chez eux après la guerre.

Les élèves se sont ensuite exprimés en cours d’anglais sur ce film. Voici des exemples de travaux :

The movie we’re about to watch is about World War I. It shows the every day life of the British soldiers in the trenches. Between them , there was the No man’s land where the fights had taken place. The director says that it’s a moving lesson because this movie shows the horrible things the soldiers lived from 1914 to 1918. The director made the movie with black and white images then colored them. He did the same with short videos and asked people who can do lip-reading to add speech to soldiers.

Tomorow will be the 8th of october and all the classes of 3e will go to the cinema. We are going to see a movie about World war 1 because we are doing this in history. The movie’s director also created Lords Of The Ring to make this movie he only used archive videos and interviews but they are in black and white and with no sound. So he used today’s technology to add color and called actors to make the voices. Now it’s really like we were with the soldiers fighting for our country.
